Tyendinaga Resident Charged with Attempted Murder

A Tyendinaga resident, Jayson Scott, 39, has been charged with attempted murder after his preliminary hearing on September 26th. Scott was initially charged with 2 counts aggravated assault, 1 count breaking and entering to commit an indictable offence, mischief under $5000.00, and carrying a weapon.

When Scott returned to court on September 26th for a preliminary hearing the aggravated assault charge was changed to attempted murder. Other charges were modified or added including carrying a weapon for the purpose of committing an indictable offence and uttering death threats.

Napanee OPP were dispatched to a Dundas St. residence in Deseronto on July 8th, for an assault in progress. After allegedly breaking and entering Scott allegedly assaulted two men in their 50’s. One man sustained life threatening injuries and was hospitalized for three weeks. The other man was treated and released the same day.

On July 30th, Justice of the Peace, Donna Doelman, after two days of presiding over Scott’s bail hearing, denied his release. She also implemented a publication ban on any evidence or testimony that was heard during the hearing.

Scott goes to Assignment Court on November 15th to find out when he goes before the Superior Court of Canada for trial.
